What the Sim is
The Sim is a place to practise a consultation with a fictional patient. You talk to the patient by typing, as you would in a consultation. You can also examine, order tests, prescribe, refer and safety-net. When you finish, you get practice feedback on what you covered.
Every Sim screen carries the same two lines:
Practice feedback from an AI. It is not an assessment of competence and is not seen by anyone unless you share it.
Fictional patient. For practice only. Not clinical advice.
The Sim is training. It is a safe place to try things, get feedback and try again. It does not decide anything about your endorsement.
Starting
- Open Sim from the menu.
- Choose a case from the list.
- Read the briefing. It shows what the patient says first and how the case works.
- Start the consult.
Below the case list is your history of Sim sessions. A session shows as In progress, Paused, Finished or Stopped early.
Some cases have a timer. The timer only tells you the time. When it runs out it says "Time is up. You can keep going or end the consult." Nothing ends your session for you.
What you can do in a case
- Talk with the patient and watch their monitor in the Patient room.
- Examine them in the Examination room.
- Order tests in the Laboratory room and open the results when they are ready.
- Keep your own notes.
- End the case and read your feedback.
The rooms guide explains each room. Not every case uses every room. Rooms a case does not use do not appear.

- Viva practice, where you rehearse presenting a case to a practice panel.
- Case library, a collection of reviewed fictional cases to practise on.
- Mentor groups.
